The easiest and proven sugar cookies

There is something about writing that is hard, once I’m writing I enjoy it, but the start is hard –maybe because of the amount of distractions. Almost every two minutes I have one of my kids, asking me a questions, asking to play, wanting to be held or snuggled, among other distractions. Anyway! The sugar cookies recipe is such a good one. I never buy sugar cookies, they feel really bad quality most of the time that in my mind, I never even wanted to make them, until my neighbor brought me some she made for valentine’s day last year. We loved them and I asked her if I could get her recipe.

Her recipe is one her mom passed her, and now that she is a grandma she uses it for grandchildren and my kids too. We love her so much!

How to make sugar cookies Step by Step

  1. Preheat oven to 400 F
  2. Start by using a stand mixer or a hand mixer, creaming butter and sugar until all is well combine-about 3-5 minutes. I use cold butter cut in cubes.
  3. Continue to mix in low and add egg, vanilla, and sour cream until is all combined.
  4. Add the dry ingredients — 3 cups flour, baking soda, and salt, and continue to mix until it forms a dough.
  5. In a surface add some of the remaining flour and place the dough to roll it out.
  6. Thickness for the dough is about 1/4 inch and then cut in the shape you like.
  7. Optional: scoop size ball of your liking to a baking sheet and then press with a round surface. This is to avoid rolling it out.
  8. Bake for 10-12 minutes –this will depend on the size of your cookies.
  9. Cool completely before frosting. I let mine rest overnight and frost the next day.
