Simple Brownie Tiramisu (One layer each)

For our fifth anniversary we went to an Italian restaurant. Fine dining is not our common, we save it for special occasions. We always get dessert when we do this, and one of the options was brownie tiramisu. It all sounded so delirious, but we ended up deciding for panna cotta.

Our detail with tiramisu is that it has coffee. We do not drink coffee but for tiramisu, this ingredient is a must. Well, we do enjoy tiramisu substituting coffee for something similar. I use a barley drink made of toasted grains, it’s called PERO.

This recipe, is simple and easy to make, I hope you enjoy it.

Simple ingredients

Egg yolks
Mascarpone
Vanilla extract
Heavy cream
Granulated sugar
A pinch of salt

Brownie mix

Coco powder

How to make brownie tiramisu (Step by step)

  1. First, bake brownie according to the box instructions. They vary, depending on the type of box brownie you buy. The one important step here is to bake it in two pans/baking dishes. I would recommend two 4×4 inches. We only will use one of the brownies for the tiramisu.
  2. Let the brownie cool completely before moving into the next step.
  3. In a mixing bowl, add eggs, sugar, cream, vanilla, and mascarpone.
  4. Using an electric mixer beat together for 2 minutes. Set aside.
  5. Make holes to the brownie using a stick to ensure the PERO drink gets absorbed. See video for reference.
  6. Once the PERO is absorbed, add the cream mixture on top. Spread well, and let it in the fridge overnight, or in the freezer for about 20-30 minutes.
  7. Dust with coco powder before serving, enjoy!

How to serve

Serve cold, and dust some coco powder on top.

How to store

Store in the fridge for about two days.
